The paper presents an analysis of adjectival collocability in Sloval and Bulgarian language. It outlines the general types of collocations regarded as word combinations with their related semantics and analyses them from the point of view of lexicology, corpus linguistics, phraseology and lexicography. We understand collocations as typical word combinations which are actual realizations of the collocability of lexical units. Thus, we present a collocational profile analysis of selected Slovak and Bulgarian adjectives in which we also emphasize the corpus sources and the methods which are essential for examining the specific meaning and combinatorial potential of words. For that, we use the NoSketch Engine as well as the Sketch Engine tools which were used also for compiling the Dictionary of Slovak Adjectival Collocations. Our research results may be further used in the field of phraseology, collocation and translation lexicography as well as natural language processing domain.
