This paper is dedicated to the oldest Croatian names, and it shall provide an analysis of groups of names motivated by stereotypes. The majority of the oldest Croatian linguistic attestations are not appellatives, but onyms, and so Croatian mediaeval names are valuable as a foundation for a reconstruction of both linguistic and extralinguistic historical reality (social context). An attempt shall be made to divine the context of their creation.
