Faculty of Slavic Studies Publishing House

The Faculty of Slavic Philology is a leading academic center in Bulgaria for research in the fields of Slavic studies, Bulgarian studies, linguistics, literary studies, arts, and cultural processes. The Faculty adheres to high academic and ethical standards, with all publications undergoing peer review and in-depth editorial scrutiny.

The Faculty has been operating as a book publisher since 2017 and has a long tradition of publishing the following:

  • monographs and collections of papers – single or joint-authored works and collective research by lecturers and researchers.
  • textbooks and teaching aids – for students of philology, translation, and cultural studies.
  • academic journals – peer-reviewed publications dedicated to linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, and Slavic literatures and languages.

Annually, approximately 60 applications are submitted by the departments for inclusion in the Faculty’s Publishing plan. The financial subsidy for publishing activities averages approximately BGN 40,000/20 000 Euro per year, which fully covers the planned publications.

After its establishment in October 2017, the publishing house was registered with the National ISBN Agency and included in the Global Register of Publishers with a capacity of about 50 books per year. Since 2024, e-books have also been assigned a unique DOI number.

The Faculty of Slavic Philology publishes the journal Philological Forum (ISSN 2367-8119; ISSN 2534-9473) –  since 2016, as well as the electronic series International Philological Forum (ISSN 2535-1354) – for the period 2015/2017–2023; Experior (ISSN 2815-3731) –  since 2022,  and Event and Text (ISSN 3033-1021) – since 2024.

Other periodicals published within the Faculty are the Yearbook of the Faculty of Slavic Philology, Literature, Contrastive Linguistics, Colloquia Comparativa Litterarum, Modern Linguistics, and Balgarska Rech. The Faculty’s publishing portfolio also includes the electronic magazine Littera et Lingua, which is no longer in publication.
