Doctoral Training and Evaluation Process
Doctoral studies are conducted according to an individual study plan.
The individual study plan is developed by the doctoral student and their academic supervisor and must be approved by the Faculty (Academic) Council within three months of the student’s enrollment, based on a proposal from the primary academic unit.
Doctoral Minimum Examination
The doctoral student must take a doctoral minimum exam in their field of specialization. The exam is conducted by a commission of at least three habilitated faculty members, appointed by the head of the hosting academic unit, and includes the doctoral student’s academic supervisor.
Foreign Language Examination
The foreign language exam is conducted by faculty members specializing in the respective language, as nominated by the Dean of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology (FCMP).
Course Attendance and Evaluation
Attendance at lectures included in the doctoral student’s individual study plan is assessed with either a pass or fail grade, determined by the course instructor.
Progress Reports and Evaluation
A full-time doctoral student must submit a progress report at the end of each quarter to the Dean of the Faculty of Slavic Studies (FSS), which includes:
- A report on research progress related to the dissertation or the doctoral minimum exam, signed by the academic supervisor and supported with relevant documentation.
- A report on teaching activities, signed by the head of the hosting academic unit.
Doctoral students undergo an annual evaluation by the Faculty Council at the end of each academic year.
